Here are six stories you might have missed from Barry this week…

GlastonBARRY postponed for second year running

Glastonbarry, South Wales' foremost tribute festival, has been postponed for the second year running due to the pandemic.

The event will now take place on the final week of July 2022, providing normality has returned by then.

Mack Events, who run the festival, have said in a post on their website that they felt they had "no option".

Rob Brydon hints at future Gavin and Stacey episode

Rob Brydon has hinted that one more special episode of Gavin and Stacey could be filmed.

The actor and comedian who brought Uncle Bryn to life said writers James Corden and Ruth Jones left the hit comedy "hanging" in the 2019 Christmas special.

The episode finished on a cliffhanger with Nessa proposing to Smithy.

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters come to Barry

Philip Price and his children Vincent, four, and Allessia, one aren't afraid of no ghosts.

The Barry family have been fundraising for Mae Glas Cets and Cardiff Dog's Home with their newly acquired Ecto-1, by offering special Ghostbusters visits around the town.

Phil said he "couldn't believe it" when he found the iconic car for sale on eBay, and knew he had to buy it because the Ghostbusters film is a family favourite.

Barry market benefitting from shops reopening but future is still uncertain

Though non-essential retailers opened their doors for the first time since December yesterday, Barry's market traders have set up on Holton Road throughout.

The Tuesday market is run by operators M and B Markets, who co-ordinate stalls across Wales.

Director Tim Wellings said Covid meant many traders have left the business, opting for more reliable streams of income.

Police appeal for information following three-vehicle collision on Port Road West

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses following a three-vehicle collision which occurred on Port Road West at approximately 9.15am on Monday 12 April.

The collision involved a red Vauxhall Astra, a black Audi A3 and a grey Ford Focus, say SWP.

Shoppers make tentative return to Barry high street as restrictions ease

Non-essential shops across Wales reopened their doors today after almost four months of lockdown.

The high street never quite bustled, but retailers across the town breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving a "steady stream" of returning shoppers.

"It's lovely being back open," Homemade Wales owner Fay Blakely told Nub News. "It's been steady, which is nice."

"I was really excited this morning, as my children went back to school today as well. It very much felt like 'back to school', I had my bag packed and an early night," she continued.

"I just hope this is it now. I think Barry's in a really good position to thrive, for the sheer number of independents we've got.
