Enjoy free tennis coaching

An autumn of tennis for all ages and abilities is on offer at Barry Athletic Tennis Club with the club hosting a special family open day on Saturday September 11th offering free tennis coaching suitable for those wanting to either give tennis a go or start playing again, through to regular players.

The club wants to make it as easy as possible to enjoy a socially distant-friendly sport, including half-price Club membership for the rest of the year.

Simone Biles, four-time Olympic gold medalist and arguably the greatest gymnast of all time, has made international headlines for quitting the team and her all-around events at the Tokyo Olympics. Douglas MacArthur famously said: "Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul." But for all the viewers who are prepared to watch on TV but not put themselves through the mental and physical sacrifice required to become an Olympic champion, you should think twice before saying Biles is a QUITTER.

Elite Athletes are under extreme pressure to perform and when something feels strange or out of place it's ok to be honest with yourself. After watching her flip, twist and fly through the air, I was in awe and sat back and thought: "I wish I could do that". As fans we like to associate ourselves with sports stars, and we see them as superhuman beings.

Barry Town FC has bid farewell and good luck to Paul Morgan, after it announced his departure from the club to Pontypridd Town.

Barry-born Paul joined the club in August 2012 after leaving Newport County's academy, and in the eight and a half years since, he has become stalwart of the football club. He departs having made a total of 184 appearances, scoring five times.

Barry Town United announced the appointment of Damian Flynn as their new full time Head of Coaching and Academy Director.

Damian will also work as part of the first team backroom staff ensuring a constant link between the Academy and first team squad; whilst driving forward a new community outreach programme across the Vale of Glamorgan.
