Barry Town Council has unveiled a new set of plaques within Merthyr Dyfan Cemetary that commemorate important local historical figures.
Members of the town council and a small group met on Wednesday 14 July to mark the unveiling at a socially-distanced event.

Shared Regulatory Services are holding workshops for food businesses in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan, as the law on allergens and ingredients lists are changing.
'Natasha's Law' will come into place from 1 October 2021, so SRS are providing free online workshops to help businesses understand the changes and prepare for them.

On Friday 19 June the aptly named 'Peaky Climbers', a team of Fire Fighters and Ambulance Crew who work for South Wales Fire And Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service's NHS Trust, completed the gruelling three peaks challenge.
The team who are mostly based at Barry Emergency Services Station, including some based at Emergency Services Stations in Penarth, Cardiff and Monmouth finished the challenge in under 24 hours.

Staff at the local health board and South Wales Police were named on this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list and will be awarded with an MBE for their services.
Mr. Sumit Goyal is a Consultant Oncoplastic Surgeon in the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board since 2003. He became the lead for the Breast Services in 2006, a position he held for 10 years.

When designing the 'Achievement of Arms' for the Vale of Glamorgan, the task was to link the past with the present and create a simple but distinctive heraldic symbol.
For the central shield design, the Arms of the Ruler of Glamorgan Iestyn ap Gwrgant, or those attributed to him, 'Gules three chevronels Argent', or red were combined with the Arms of the de Clares, 'Gold three chevronels Gules'.
