The annual Barry Island Firework Fiesta has been cancelled for a second year in a row.

The organisers said that "due to the ongoing uncertainty of Covid-19 and following discussions between the partners that bring to you the Annual Barry Island Firework Fiesta; Barry Rotary Club, Barry Round Table, Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council –

a collective decision has been made to cancel the Annual Firework Fiesta for 2021 and begin to explore a new and exciting way in which to deliver this popular event!" Partners are excited to announce that work has begun to explore the concept of a "Festival of Light" which will see certain parks and monuments throughout Barry lit up throughout November. "It is hoped that the Festival of Light will be a family friendly event which can be explored at your own pace and will be an exciting, safe and alternative way Barry can celebrate Bonfire Night this year. "To keep up to date with the Festival of Light, make sure you are following our social medias for the latest news and information."
