The Vale of Glamorgan Council has provided the county's latest COVID-19 statistics, including the number of self-isolating pupils and their schools.

326 students at St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School are currently self-isolating.

In the seven days leading up to 9 October, there were 72 active cases in the Vale. This means that per 100,000 people, 53.9 received positive tests.

1332 tests were conducted in that timeframe, meaning per 100,000 people 997.1 were tested. 5.4% of tests were positive.

Four schools in the Vale are currently isolating students due to COVID. Besides St Richard Gwyn, these include Llantwit Major School (224 pupils self-isolating), Cowbridge's Ysgol Iolo Morganwg (50) and Penarth's St Cyres (210).

Years 10 and 11 at St Richard Gwyn constitute the 326 students placed in an isolation bubble.

Parents were informed of a confirmed case on 2 October. The students are due to return to school next week.
