Craig's Corner: What to donate and when to do it

Lockdown has given us all the chance to have a good sort out and get rid of things we no longer need.

If you're looking for somewhere to donate your unwanted items, Craig's Corner at 300 Holton Road are accepting donations on Tuesdays and Fridays.

"We're looking for donations of clothing, footwear and small household items in fair condition," said manager Bett Sim, who opened the fundraising shop five and a half years ago.

All proceeds raised at Craig's Corner are put back into the local community.

That could be in the form of food vouchers, clothing and household items to new tenants following homelessness, or providing Barry Hospital with the funds to purchase a Kurtain chair, for patients unable to sit in a normal chair.

Bett urged people to bring their donations into the shop, as anything left outside on the street gets damaged when it rains.

"We always seem to need trainers, they're always in demand," said Bett.

"At the moment we're in need men's clothing, especially jumpers as it gets colder. We also need children's clothing, ages six to nine, and things like baby grows for the really young ones."

Bett also said that they're keen for donations of toys in the run up to Christmas.

Craig's Corner is run solely by volunteers, and is always looking for more people to join their team.

The shop is open on weekdaay 9am-5pm, except on Wednesday, when it closes at 1pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm.
