New crochet messaged added to hope at Knap Gardens
A new message has been added to the crochet "hope" at the Knap Gardens.
Nub News previously spoke to Fiona Rodgers, of the Barry Hookers Crochet and Craft group about the first crochet art message.
She returned with daughter Sian, and Tanya Harrison, who are all bubbling together, to the Wishing Bridge to install the latest message: "LOVE".
Lounge restaurant to be built at Nell's Point toilet block, chain boss confirms
The founder of the Loungers group Alex Reilley says they will be opening a new restaurant on Barry Island in 2022, as part of the Nell's Point redevelopment.
The restaurant chain has over 160 Lounge restaurants and Cosy Clubs in the UK.
Mr Reilley tweeted a picture of the Grade II-listed building yesterday evening. The caption read:
"A Grade II listed toilet block in Barry Island I hear you say. Oh go on then."
Barry contractor wins "Best Builder" for Tower Hill in Penarth and other projects
A Barry contractor has received two Vale of Glamorgan Council Building Control Excellence Awards for 2021, being named Best Local Builder for the second time since 2014.
They also won the Best Ext/Alteration Highly Commended award for their remarkable renovation of Tower Hill, the old Coastguard Observation Tower in Penarth.
Nisa Local Barry donated £1,200 to Barry Athletic FC
The Nisa Local on Vere Street has donated £1,200 to Barry Athletic Football Club as part of its Making A Difference Locally charity fund.
Founded in 2008, the fund is gathered from a percentage of sales of all Nisa goods using a "you shop, we donate" system.
Individual stores across the country are then able to choose a local cause to receive the fund.

What's occurin' down under? Barrybados makes appearance on Australian TV
Barrybados owner Louis Ross says seeing one of his iconic t-shirts appear in an Australian news feature "made his day".
Louis was tagged in a video about the Blackheath fire brigade on Australian news outlet 'The Project's' Facebook page.
The reporter revisits the firefighters after the bush fires that peaked in December 2019-January 2020 and reconnects with married couple Kate and Alex Newcombe.
The couple discussed how Kate donated one of her kidneys to her then husband, and the effects the medication Alex had to take were having.
As they catch up with journalist Chris Bath, Alex wears one of Louis' famous Barrybados t-shirts. It turns out Alex is a proud Welshman, with connections to Barry.
All residents and staff members in Barry care homes receive Covid vaccine
Every resident and staff member in care homes across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan has received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
This milestone has been reached 23 days after Cardiff and Vale University Health Board started their vaccination programme for care homes.
A total of 3,485 employees and 1,609 residents received their first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
