New crochet message added to 'Hope' at Knap Gardens
A new message has been added to the crochet "hope" at the Knap Gardens.
Nub News previously spoke to Fiona Rodgers, of the Barry Hookers Crochet and Craft group about the first crochet art message.
Today she returned with daughter Sian, and Tanya Harrison, who are all bubbling together, to the Wishing Bridge to install the latest message: "LOVE".
"It's been really good fun making it," said Fiona.
"From a mindfulness point of view, it's just helped everybody.
"We've been putting things on the bridge for the last three or four years. Probably the thing we've had most is the enjoyment out of it.
"Hopefully it will brighten things up. It's been a nightmare 18 months, but a bit of hope is always there."
"And a bit of love too!" Fiona's daughter Sian added.
Tanya Harrison, also a crochet club member said: "It's been great for our group for our group as well, making the pom poms and flowers.
"We were able to use things we had already, and we've been given a lot of stuff too.
"It's very therapeutic knitting and crafting, so I think that has helped people as well through these difficult times.
"We've been talking about it on our little WhatsApp group and meet virtually as well," she said.
Fiona and Tanya welcome anyone who can sew, knit or crochet if they would like to add a pompom or flower to the message.
"I would suggest fixing their creation on with string, wool or cable ties, it belongs to everyone so as long as it's a happy addition that's fine by us," said Fiona.
The group is also planning a third message, but once again residents will have to keep their eyes peeled for when the secret is revealed...
