By The Editor 15th Jul 2019

Barry Town United announced the appointment of Damian Flynn as their new full time Head of Coaching and Academy Director.

Damian will also work as part of the first team backroom staff ensuring a constant link between the Academy and first team squad; whilst driving forward a new community outreach programme across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Damian holds both the UEFA A and Elite Youth licences and brings considerable experience and enthusiasm to the role.

Damian has experience in the community football sector and coach education.

He has previously held full-time roles at City in the Community at Manchester City Football and Cardiff City FC Foundation.

He is no stranger to the club, having previously worked with the senior team as a first team coach.

In completing the key aims of the role, Damian will also be responsible for the new community outreach programme.

This will see many exciting initiatives designed to engage the local community through the vehicle of sport.

The club thanked their outgoing Academy Director Ceri Bowley for all his hard work in professionalising the academy over the last two years.

Ceri will join the City Group as their Head of Coaching Support.

First Team Manager Gavin Chesterfield commented "I'm delighted to welcome Damian back to the club in what is a significant step forward for our football club and for Welsh Football.

''The appointment of a full time Head of Coaching will facilitate new opportunities for our academy and indeed football within Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.

''Damian inherits a good ship from outgoing Academy Director Ceri Bowley who I can't thank enough for his dedication and efforts in driving the Academy forward over the last two years."
