Work has begun to upgrade Central Park in Barry.

The project includes paving works to create a paved area able to facilitate events in future.

Picnic tables with game tops will also be installed in the play area, as will a table for playing chess.

Work began yesterday and is estimated to take three weeks to complete.

"Exciting works are to take place at Central Park, Barry over the coming weeks," said the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

"Some footpaths will be closed during this time, however contractors aim to keep disruptions to a minimum."

A play area upgrade is also scheduled for later this year.
