What's open and reopening soon in Barry?

The 'stay local' rule was lifted on Saturday, meaning people in Barry can travel anywhere in the country for the first time since December.

From Saturday, self-contained holiday accommodation, including hotels with en-suite facilities and room service, could reopen to people from the same household or support bubble.

Organised outdoor activities and sport could resume for under 18, libraries and archives could reopen and limited outdoor activities at historic venues and gardens could resume.

Here's what's now open in Barry:

Barrybados

The Barrybados shop will partially re-open from Monday, serving ice cream, drinks, slushies.

Local deliveries will stop, but click and collect will remain in place.

Boofy's

Boofy's chip shop reopened on Saturday to queues of people. Both Barry residents and visitors from across Wales can stop here for takeaway fish and chips.

Dyffryn Gardens

The National Trust Estate gardens opened this weekend, and has also announced a brand new wild play area.

The Gallery Café also opened for takeaway food and drink, and an Easter egg hunt starts from today.

Gingerlicious

You can't miss this addition to Barry Island with its pop pink setting. The shop opened on Sunday for the first time, offering ice cream, crepes, donuts and beach goods.

Teddy T's

The American Diner reopened for takeaway food and beers this weekend.

Zio's Gelateria

The ice cream shop opened on Saturday after shutting in January. Visitors can buy takeaway ice cream to enjoy at the beach.

Parts of Fonmon Castle are opening from 1 April, including:

The Victorian Walled Gardens

The Woodland Walks

The Trim Trail

The Dinosaur Woods

The Story Telling Trail

The Regeneration Project

The Wild Wigwam Walk with Roly Poly Castle

The Bird Hides and Den Building Area

The Prehistoric Plant Trail

The Blue Bell Woods

The Medieval Grange

The Mad Hatter's Garden

And 350 acres of open Meadows. Mrs Marco's Café The Porthkerry Park café is also due to open on Thursday 1 April, offering takeaway food and drink. The café has recently undergone a makeover, and a new covered decking area is ready for when regulations allow customers to sit in.
