What a Difference a Year Makes: Barry Island's Easter Friday in Pictures

With the coronavirus lockdown continuing over the Easter weekend, Barry Island has been captured in a very different light to 2019.

The pictures in our gallery above show the difference a year makes with the beach pictured on Easter Friday in 2020, sparse and vacant, in comparison to the bustling year before.

This is, of course, good news.

The Government has been worried about the number of people at the coast over this hot April weekend but these images show that many are abiding by the rules of lockdown.

Cllr Lis Burnett said: ''Barry Island is still as gorgeous as ever and I'd like to thank everyone for taking notice of the need to Stay Home and Stay Safe.

"For now we'll just have to enjoy the many beautiful images people are sharing and look forward to the time when we are able to visit again."

The lockdown rules state that you should only exercise once a day and that this should be done locally. Unnecessary travel goes against the guidelines.

Barry Island was in the news for the difficulty they faced in keeping the public away at the beginning of the lockdown but the tides seem to have changed.
