Two cars have been towed from beaches in Barry this morning.

At 10.25pm last night, Barry Coastguard was paged to The Knap beach, where a four-by-four had been driven onto the pebbles.

Barry Coastguard station manager Chris Fletcher warned how dangerous this situation was:

"The pebbles are slippery and the car was driven sideways onto the beach," he explained.

"It could have quite easily rolled with the guys inside it.

"Then there was the potential pollution, if that car had gone into the water."

The car was towed from the beach by a recovery vehicle, and Barry Coastguard stood down at 4am.

Another car was also driven onto Whitmore Bay overnight.

Just after 9.30am, an Audi was towed from the beach onto the square by ASK recovery vehicles.

Nub News has approached South Wales Police for comment and is awaiting a response.
