Police appeal for witnesses of 'possibly drunk' driver of Audi onto Barry beach

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the Audi driven onto Whitmore Bay this morning.

Nub News arrived at the scene at 9.30am, as the car was towed back up the ramp.

Just after 7.30am today [14 June], South Wales Police say they received information that "a black vehicle had driven at speed down the slipway onto the beach at Barry Island.

"The Audi A3 became stuck in the sand and the male driver left the area.

"He is described as possibly being under the influence of alcohol and was wearing a yellow basketball style vest.

"The car was removed from the beach and the owner, believed to be from the Nelson area, has been contacted.

"Enquiries are on-going. Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact police quoting occurrence 2100207719."

Another car was driven onto The Knap pebble beach last night, and removed in the early hours of this morning.
