Triple Callout for Barry Coastguards

Barry Coastguards had a busy day yesterday with three separate callouts, including, a serious fall at Friars Point and two police incidents.

On Wednesday the 26th, at 08.49hrs, the Coastguard team were called to a person who had fallen at Friars point, Barry.

Barry Nub News contacted the Ambulance service to find out more.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called yesterday, 26 February, at approximately 08:32 am to reports of a person falling in Whitmore Bay, Barry.

''We responded with one emergency ambulance and one rapid response vehicle. One patient was transported to the University Hospital of Wales."

When they arrived with South Wales Ambulance service, the casualty was located and treated for possible spinal and lower body injuries.

They were then taken to the hospital, and the team were able to return to the station.

The second incident came in at 2:58 pm requesting Barry Coastguard to assist South Wales Police and Fire service, with an incident near the River Taff in Cardiff.

The teams were stood down on route, as the situation was resolved before they had attended.

The final callout of the day came at 21:59. The team were paged to assist South Wales Police and Fire Service with an incident at the Roath basin Cardiff bay.

The situation was later resolved and the crew were able to leave the scene and return to station at 1:00 am.
