Three in hospital after "serious" Port Road West crash

THREE people have been taken to hospital following a "serious" crash on Port Road West.

The incident took place this morning (12 April) at roughly 9:15am between the airport roundabout and Weycock roundabout.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.17am this morning to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on Port Road, Rhoose, Barry.

"We attended scene with one rapid response vehicle, three emergency ambulances, the Wales Air Ambulance and our Emergency Medical Transfer and Retrieval Service. Three patients were taken by road to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff."

The Vale of Glamorgan Council have commented:

"The road is closed in both directions and diversion signs will be in place for several hours.

"Drivers are advised to avoid this area."
