An eight-month-old baby was recovered from the collision on Port Road West this morning with no injuries, Nub News understands.

A clean-up crew member told Nub News that a vehicle travelling towards the airport collided into the back of the car in front of it, in which the baby was travelling.

This car was knocked into the opposite lane, hitting an oncoming vehicle, he said.

This middle car was removed from the scene, just after the lay-by, at approximately 2.45pm today, with severe damage to both the front and back ends.

"There was an eight-month-old baby in this one," the worker said. "There was nothing wrong with her."

The road was reopened just before 3pm today, after workers finished clearing debris from the road.

The incident took place this morning (12 April) at roughly 9:15am between the airport roundabout and Weycock roundabout.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.17am this morning to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on Port Road, Rhoose, Barry.

"We attended scene with one rapid response vehicle, three emergency ambulances, the Wales Air Ambulance and our Emergency Medical Transfer and Retrieval Service.

"Three patients were taken by road to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff."
