New trees were planted around Porthkerry Country Park yesterday.

A mixture of 20 oak, cherry and beech trees have been planted across the park.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council says the trees were "kindly given" to the park by Welsh Water "as part of the mitigation process after the installation of a new pipeline through the park."

A spokesperson for Visit the Vale said: "These new trees, plus the new hedgerow planted in December along Nightingale Meadow, will also help mitigate the felling of ash trees infected with Ash Die Back and the Council's ongoing response to the Climate Emergency."
