The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across Barry and other parts of Wales.

The warning is in place until Friday morning, and means that:

- Delays to train and bus services are possible

- Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and buildings

- There is a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life

Extra care should be taken when driving through heavy rain and strong winds. The Met Office advises avoiding travel during these periods, but if your journey is necessary you should stick to main roads where there is less likely to be debris and flooding.

Drivers should also take extra caution to leave space between themselves and traffic in front in wet weather, slow down in conditions with poor visibility and use dipped headlights if their own visibility is seriously reduced.

If you encounter a flooded road, the Met Office warns against driving through the water. Just 12 inches of moving water can float a car, so a road can be deceptively dangerous in these conditions.

Cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians are also vulnerable when travelling in these conditions, as they are more likely to be blown around by side winds. The Met Office advises keeping a safe distance from them.
