Vale Council Enforcement Officers have attended two flytipping incidents in the area of the old Five Mile Lane in Barry over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Council posted images of the incident and asked members of the public for any information that they may have to help find the culprits.

Flytipping has become increasingly problematic during the coronavirus lockdown as the waste and recycling centres remain closed to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Members of the public have been reported to be paying individuals to get rid of their waste during this time.

However, this has sometimes resulted in rogue traders taking money and dumping the rubbish elsewhere. Unfortunately, the responsibility, in this case, remains with the owner of the rubbish and you can be fined if you have not followed the guidelines on using these services.

A Llantwit Major resident was issued with a £300 Fixed Penalty Notice on the 29th of April as she failed in her legal duty of care after she paid a "man with a van" to dispose of her waste. Her waste was later found fly-tipped in Llanmaes.

• Get a written receipt/transfer note showing their contact details (Name, Address and Telephone Number), a description of your waste, and details of where they are taking it
