The Corporate plan for the Vale council is in its final stages of public consultation and Barry residents are reminded that the deadline to have their say on how services are delivered across the County is Friday, December 20.

So far there has been an encouraging response to the consultation on the draft Corporate Plan, which outlines the Authority's blueprint to achieve its vision of Strong Communities with a Bright Future.

The Corporate Plan covers all areas of Council responsibility from waste collections to education, housing to social services and more.

Engagement sessions with a variety of groups have been held over the last few months to ensure a broad cross section of views are canvassed.

These have included meetings with the Vale 50+ forum, Vale Youth Cabinet, Cardiff and Vale College students as well as the business community.

Vale of Glamorgan Council Manging Director Rob Thomas said: "The production of a new Corporate Plan is of huge significance as it will set out how we intend to work and will outline our key priorities for the next five years.

''We deliver a huge range of essential public services and it is important that our priorities reflect the views of our communities. That is why we have sought to obtain input and feedback from a range of organisations over recent weeks.

"The Council is open to new ideas and ways of working at a time where demands on our services continue to grow. By working with our communities and partners I am confident that we can continue to improve and meet both the challenges and opportunities that we will face in coming years."
