Barry's Indian Cuisines Recognised in Welsh Asian Food Awards

Two Barry Based Indian Cuisines were recognised in the first ever Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019 after a glamorous, black-tie awards ceremony was held at the Exchange Hotel on Monday the 2nd of December in Cardiff.

Royal Balti Barry, located on Vere street in Cadoxton, collected the 'Indian Takeaway of the Year' at the 2019 event.

Whilst, Mint Room Restaurant, on Main Street, won the 'South East 5 Star Indian Restaurant of the Year'.

Shah, Mint Room's manager, told Nub News that: ''I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all my customers for their support.''

They state that their culinary style represents an evolution in Indian food, authenticity is the foundation of their menu.

Muhammad Ahmed, from Royal Balti, said: ''We are delighted to have achieved this fantastic award, "Takeaway of the Year 2019" awarded by Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019.''

''We are amongst one of the Top Indian Takeaways in the Vale of Glamorgan with a five star hygiene rating.''

''We also thank all our customers for their support over the past 23 years of the establishment and our hard working team who play a big roll in this achievement.''

The Award ceremony is the first of its kind and exists to recognise and reward a variety of Asian restaurants, takeaways and eateries across Wales.

The campaign began in Scotland last year and has since been delivered in England, Ireland, London and has now come to Wales.

The campaign recognises those who work their hardest to service the Asian food industry which is growing and diversifying each year.

The event celebrated the achievements of businesses and individuals who connect communities through food and culture.

The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019 were organised by Oceanic Consulting – the UK's leading ethnic awards company. CEO Irfan Younis said: "I'd like to say a massive congratulations to all winners and finalists from the first ever Welsh Asian Food Awards 2019.

''This campaign designed to honour all varieties of Asian cuisine has done brilliantly across the UK. We're proud to honour and celebrate the individuals who open Wales' doors to Asia's kitchen."
