Barry Morrisons is helping schoolchildren around town get in the spirit of the Euros by donating footballs.

Last Wednesday Morrisons Community Champion Pam Bowen visited Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant while pupils were taking part in a football training session to make the donation.

Headteacher Rhydian Lloyd thanked Pam and Morrisons for their generosity.

"The timing is perfect, it coincides with the opening up of everything, so we're getting out and playing but also with the Euros," he said.

"There's a bit of excitement around the school with how well Wales might do.

"Many families here live in flats or small houses where children can't run around.

"We're encouraging physical activity and playing together, so this donation will certainly help us."

Year five children told Nub News they were excited about the new equipment, as they play football together at lunch time.

Morrisons Community Champions connect local stores with their surrounding communities by leading on local and national charity fundraising, the Unsold Food programme, and volunteering.

Pam is continuing to deliver Morrison's donations around Barry.

"We're thinking of the benefits these footballs will bring," she said.

"We have the ability to, so why not give back to the community?"
