Cadoxton Primary School has won the Inspiring Great Leadership Organisational Award at the 2019 Leading Wales Awards in Cardiff.
The school beat off stiff competition from Bridgend College, Do Digital Realities and Orbis Education & Care to claim the prize, with judges describing it as 'simply outstanding'.
The accolade can go to an organisation from any sector that builds the leadership skills of all including employees and volunteers from grass roots to boardroom, helping to create the next generation of leaders.
Cadoxton Primary School Headteacher Janet Hayward said: "Daring to lead sums up the Cadoxton way and so the team is so delighted to have been recognised for this.
"We believe that everyone is a leader and our culture of leadership encourages everyone to be the best they can be. What an honour to receive this award."
Cllr Lis Burnett, Deputy Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: "We are fortunate to have a high number of top performing schools in the Vale and this is yet another success story.
''Cadoxton is a wonderful school and always a joy to visit. I'd like to send all involved my heartfelt congratulations on winning this well-deserved award and look forward to visiting them again very soon."
Sean Murphy, Chair of Governors, said: "It was fantastic to get to the final four of the Inspiring Great Leadership award, but for a Primary School to actually win the award against three other excellent organisations was monumental.
''I think this emphasises that Great Leadership can be found in a huge spectrum of organisations and not just commercial. It also proves that the Cadoxton way of developing the future citizens of Wales is working, due to the leadership and relationship model which is imbued in all staff, pupils, parents and stakeholders."
