BARRY Shop Local is running a competition until 31 December to find all the letters hidden in shops to work out the 'Christmas phrase'.

The winners will receive vouchers to spend in local retailers around town.

A set 23 individual letters have been placed in shops on Holton Road, as have a set of 23 letters in shops on High Street.

Once you have found all 23 letters on the street, work out the Christmas phrase and send your entry to Barry Shop Local.

Chair of Barry Shop Local Councillor Sandra Perkes hoped the competition would drive people into local into retailers to browse.

"Barry Shop Local would normally help fund the Christmas lights event. We thought of something different we could do to support the local traders," she said.

"We're encouraging people to go inside the shops as well. Look in our local shops and see what's available out there. We wanted to do it to support our businesses in different ways."

There are two sets of first, second, and third prizes to be won. First prize winners will win £100 worth of vouchers, second prize will win £75 in vouchers, and third prize will win £50.

The competition will run until 31 December.
