Channel 4 cyber-thriller 'The Undeclared War' being filmed on Barry Island
Filming for new cyber-thriller series 'The Undeclared War' is taking place on Barry Island this week.
The project, described as timely and provocative, is being directed and co-written by seven-time BAFTA-winner Peter Kosminsky.
Cast members include Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, Adrian Lester, Alex Jennings, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and newcomer Hannah Khalique-Brown.
Wales to move into alert level 2 on Monday
Wales will move into alert level 2 on Monday, the First Minister has confirmed.
Indoor hospitality businesses will be able to re-open from Monday May 17; indoor entertainment venues will also re-open and there will be an increase in the number of people able to attend organised indoor and outdoor activities.
Jane Hutt appointed Minister of Social Justice in Mark Drakeford's new Cabinet
Vale of Glamorgan MS Jane Hutt is the Minister for Social Justice in First Minister Mark Drakeford's new Cabinet team.
Ms Hutt served as a government Minister continually from May 1999 until November 2017, in a range of roles.
In December 2018, Ms Hutt then returned to the Cabinet when she was appointed Chief Whip and Deputy Minister.
Ms Hutt said she was "honoured" to have been appointed to the role.
Demolition of former Whitmore High building begins
Demolition of the former Whitmore High School building has begun, construction group Morgan Sindall has revealed.
Pupils and staff moved into the new state-of-the-art building last Thursday, four months ahead of schedule.
Posting images to Twitter, Morgan Sindall said that demolition was "well underway", with the Science Labs, DT rooms and Drama class stripped.
Calls for Welsh Football fans to return to Jenner Park
Local MP Alun Cairns has called for the Welsh Government to review its plan for Covid trial events to include Barry Town United FC's Welsh Premier playoff bid.
Under current Welsh Government plans there are no sporting or cultural trial events planned in the Vale of Glamorgan. Only Welsh teams, Swansea City and Newport County who compete in the English football leagues are included in the trial event plans.
Alun Cairns MP has written to the First Minister to review these plans and consider including Barry Town United's upcoming fixtures on the 22 or 23 of May.
Range of accessible housing completed in Barry
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has completed a £2.3 million social housing development that features five homes built specifically for disabled residents.
Clos Holm View consists of 11 homes in total, all of which have been finished to exacting standards.
The site in Barry contains one three-bedroom house, five two-bedroom houses, one three-bedroom adapted house, two four-bedroom adapted bungalows, one three-bedroom adapted bungalow and one two-bedroom adapted bungalow.
