A Barry drug dealer caught peddling drugs just yards from his own home is starting a 30-month jail term.

Plain-clothed police officers intending to carry out a search warrant at Ryan Parsons' Tydfil Street home witnessed the 18-year-old engaging in a street deal as they arrived at the location on February 12.

Parsons was arrested and advised that officers would be searching both him and his address, at which point he admitted he had drugs concealed in his boxer shorts.

He also had a crumpled £20 note in his hand, and two mobile phones and a further £180 in his pockets.

A further search revealed heroin and crack cocaine – which was later estimated to have a street value of more than £ 1,700 – hidden in his underwear.

A quantity of cannabis and related paraphernalia was also found at his address.

Parsons was subsequently charged with possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and possession of cannabis.

He pleaded guilty to all charges during a hearing on February 13 and was sentenced on March 16 to 30 months in prison.

Detective Inspector Sarah Trigg said: "Ryan Parsons was so brazen that he was practically on his doorstep when he was caught dealing.

"Selling drugs may seem like a quick and easy way to make money, but the reality is that they have a devastating impact on our communities and cause misery for users, their families and the wider community.

"I hope this sentence sends out a clear message that drugs will also have a huge impact on the person dealing. Our Organised Crime Unit is dedicated to disrupting illegal drug supply in our communities and it is only a matter of time before those involved are caught and brought to justice.

"I hope it also reassures our communities that we can and do act upon the information and suspicions provided to us, so I would the public to keep coming forward to tell us what they know."
