Barry Cafe Offers Help to Parents Who Would Struggle to Afford Food if Schools Close
Cariad Cafe and Bar in Barry are offering their support to parents who might struggle to feed their children with school closures on the horizon amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The pressure for school closures to happen are mounting on social media and across the UK from concerned parents and residents but it does leave some vulnerable.
They said: ''So, we haven't hit lockdown yet. But, there are parents out there who simply cannot afford to stockpile and may feel too ashamed to admit that providing extra meals for kids off school is a huge financial burden, for some children their free school meal is the most filling and nutritious of the day.
''So, read this and if you find yourself in this position please inbox me with no fear, guilt or shame. As the old saying goes, 'it takes a village to raise a child'.
''If the school closures go ahead and have you concerned about your child not being able to eat breakfast or lunch let me know.
''I will do what I can to help. A cooked meal, a box of cereal, a jug of milk, bread, sugar and cheese, jam, whatever it may be, I will try to help.
''Do not be ashamed we all need help at times. Kids depend on these meals more than we think.
''We at Cariad would love to extend a helping hand, we are parents 1st above all others.
''Please do share this information. And for anyone who would like to donate dry food for elderly too pls do drop it off at ours and we would make sure to knock on every door that we can and give them a little helping hand.''
