The Vale Foodbank's collaboration with Tesco - 'Every Can Help' - collected a massive 708 kg of non-perishable foodstuffs in Barry alone.

Shoppers were encouraged to purchase cans and dry food in store before dropping them into a receptacle as they left.

The "Summer Food Collection" lasted three days and will help feed local struggling individuals and families during this tricky time.

The Vale Foodbank commented:

"Thanks to everyone who donated at the recent Tesco collections. We received a fantastic 708 kg food from Barry & 364 kg from Penarth. Our team is busy sorting it into bags, ready to deliver to local people in crisis . We couldn't do it without you! Thanks again."
