Barry Island stabbing: Man charged and held on remand

SOUTH Wales Police is continuing to investigate a stabbing which took place at Barry Island on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25.
As a result of the incident, a 17-year-old boy has undergone a leg amputation and has been subject to critical care at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff
Idris Ahmed, 18, from Riverside, Cardiff, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and Possess knife/sharp pointed article in a public place and appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court yesterday morning (Saturday, 6 June.)
Ahmed was remanded into custody to appear before a judge on 3 July.
Prosecutor Angharad Jones said: "This matter relates to a very serious incident, where the victim sustained a serious stab wound resulting in the amputation of his lower leg beneath the knee.
"The offence was in a public place on a very busy Bank Holiday with hundreds of people around."
Representing Ahmed, Ellis Worsley said the defendant denied being involved.
Police are still appealing for information and witnesses, including anyone who may have filmed what happened on their phones or captured the incident on dashcam.
