Barry Coastguard was called to an incident yesterday evening after a vessel was seen drifting in the Rhoose area with around four people on board.

They said: ''Yesterday evening our volunteers were tasked to a report of a white 14ft fishing vessel with four persons onboard drifting off Rhoose.

''The team separated to various parts of our patch to try and get eyes on the vessel.

''Talking to fishermen at Rhoose, the vessel had seemed to be drifting with engine trouble but managed to start and was making its way towards Barry.

''Our team caught up with craft at Barry's old harbour, where the owner from Barry informed us he had just bought the boat from Western-Super-Mare earlier in the day and had travelled across the channel.

''After, the boat was secured by the owner and safety advice given by the coastguard our team stood down.''
