Barry Nub News readers have voiced their support for a marina in our town.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is expecting a final report for consideration on the prospect of a marina in Barry.

In November 2019, it was announced that small boats and yachts could be sailing into Barry Dock after the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Associated British Ports (ABP) commissioned The Marine Group to investigate the possibility of a marina at the site.

At Nub News we asked to hear your opinions on this topic, to give a voice to people in Barry.

An overwhelming majority said that they were in favour of building a marina at the docks.

Readers felt it would be good for the town and its people and enhance what Barry already has to offer.

"This would be beneficial for employment, house prices, tourism, and a huge boost for local economy so an absolute win," wrote one reader.

"Barry definitely needs a marina- lots of visitors- seafront bars would be lovely!" said another. The support was not unanimous however. One reader wrote: "Car park for boats. Nah. Unless the developers from the waterfront fund it. Don't want my council tax paying for this." "Hard to comment without knowing what a marina would give Barry. As far as I can tell from Penarth marina it is boats and houses," said another.

"We wouldn't have a "barrage" which is the benefit Cardiff have."
