Climate campaigners from across the Vale of Glamorgan have welcomed the decision by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to declare a "Climate Emergency" following a 500 signature petition organised by Barry Action for Nature.

The call for the Council to take action could not be more poignant with the hottest day ever in the UK, being recorded in Cambridge with 38.7 degrees.

Members from Barry Action for Nature, Porthkerry Wildlife Group and Birch Grove Conservation Group have united and spent the last few weeks collecting Yellow Rattle seed in order to sow the seeds on the meadow adjacent to Marine Drive.

Yellow Rattle is a special flower which parasites on the roots of grasses and so allowing other wild flowers to thrive.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council's rural regeneration initiative is set to launch a brand new film festival in September.

Hidden Here celebrates the concentration of creative talent throughout the Vale. It aims to animate some of the Vale's unique venues such as DRESD Studios in St Athan, Cosmeston Medieval Village and St Donats Castle with a variety of immersive events.
