Concerns have been raised over plans to build flats in Barry town centre without anywhere for residents to park.

An empty office on Regent Street is set to be knocked down with two two-bedroom flats built in its place, after councillors on the planning committee at the Vale of Glamorgan council voted on July 15 to approve permission.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has written to businesses selling alcohol around Barry Island reminding them of their role in the continuing success of the family-focused resort.

With restrictions relating to the hospitality sector set to be relaxed from Monday, licensed premises will be allowed to sell alcohol for consumption in their own outdoor spaces.

The Vale of Glamorgan council is considering shedding some of its office space as staff say they prefer working from home.
