Using THIS online tool, Nub News is able to tell you who Barry's most wikipedia'd person is since records began in June 2015... and who came close.
Without further ado, here's our list.
Drum roll please...
Bob Hope
The legendary comedian has been adopted by Barry, as he was not actually born in the town. But his opera-singing mother Avis was, and lived on Greenwood street with husband William before moving to Bristol.
He tops our list of most Wikipedia'd Barry people, with 5,990,586 page views.
Julia Gillard
Coming in second with 2,702,547 Wikipedia page views is former Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard.
She was born in Barry, as was her mother, and the family moved to Adelaide in 1966.
Ruth Jones
Though she's not Barry-born, Ruth Jones is responsible for the iconic 'Gavin and Stacey' alongside James Corden, and for bringing Nessa to our screens.
Her page has had 2,243,100 views – will she catch up with the former Aussie PM?
Lee Selby
As well as racking up 648,037 Wikipedia page views, featherweight boxer Lee Selby has also earned the IBF featherweight title from 2015 to 2018, and previously the British, Commonwealth, and European featherweight titles between 2011 and 2014.
As of December 2020, Selby is ranked as the world's seventh best active lightweight by BoxRec, so we won't be disputing his place on the list…
Gareth Jones
Barry journalist Gareth Jones was the first to report on the Soviet famine of 1932-3 in the Western World.
After being banned from re-entering the Soviet Union, Jones was kidnapped and murdered in 1935 while investigating in Japanese-occupied Mongolia; his murder was likely by the Soviet secret police, the NKVD.
He rightfully makes our list, with 471,651 page views.
Gerran Howell
Our younger readers might know Gerran's work, as he is most recognised for the CBBC show 'Young Dracula', where he played the infamous vampire's son.
His page has been viewed 252,892 times, and he most recently appeared in a TV adaptation of Catch-22.
Derek Brockway
The weather presenter attended Holton Road Primary School before moving to London to start his career.
A Barry-boy at heart, Derek even made a cameo in 'Gavin and Stacey'.
His page has 109,528 views.
