Weekend Weather Warnings Hit Barry but Won't Cancel Firework Celebrations

A yellow weather warning for wind and rain in Barry on Saturday from 4am - 6pm has been issued by the Met office from 4am - 6pm.

The temperature will range between 12 and 9 degrees celsius.

Despite the poor outlook, the Barry Island Firework Fiesta has stated that it will still go ahead.

Network Rail have issued a statement about the warnings: ''The main area forecast to impact on Wales will be coastal areas between Barry and Pembroke (coastal areas) between 05:00 and 10:00.

''We have teams in place to keep the network moving as efficiently and safely as possible.

''Rain will move north throughout the day. You may want to check before you travel.''

The Met Office yellow wind warning means:

• There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris as well as from large waves with beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
  • There is a slight chance of some damage to trees and buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
  • There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close
• There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage Yellow rain warnings mean:

• There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

• There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep flood water causing danger to life

• Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services

• Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

• There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads

• There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses Sunday's outlook is brighter and drier with temperatures ranging from 13 to 9 degrees celsius.
