South Wales Police has released footage of its officers responding to a man with a suspected firearm.
The incident took place on Shelley Crescent on 5 March.
Karl Jones, 29, from Barry was sentened to 16 months inprisonment last week after he plead guilty to possessing an imitation Uzi machine gun and a revolver with intent to cause fear of violence.
At Newport Crown Court Adam Sharp, mitigating, said his client kept the replica weapons in order scare birds away from the expensive koi carp he had in his pond.
"Within minutes firearms officers descended on Shelley Crescent and the suspect was tasered and arrested," said South Wales Police, describing the footage.
"It requires a significant amount of skill, training and professional judgement to bring incidents like this to a safe conclusion with no injuries.
"Unbeknown to the officers, the firearm was a replica and thankfully incidents like this are very rare."
