The Vale of Glamorgan Council run library recently played host to international best-selling author, Amanda Prowse, whose life experiences have inspired her some 20 novels.

Over 50 enthusiasts attended the event, which opened with Amanda talking about her childhood in East London and the experience of growing up with little income.

She then discussed her experiences as a wife of a soldier on tour, being diagnosed with cancer, and her son's suicide attempt.

Amanda expressed the importance of books and libraries in her life, and how they've contributed to her success.

Visitors were then given a copy of her new book, Will You Remember Me?

One visitor said: "I would like to thank you most sincerely for the wonderful evening we spent at the library on Thursday.

''The whole group really appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed the event.

"The talk by Amanda Prowse was uplifting and sincere, she is an extraordinary person and proves that despite setbacks, but with the love and support of family and friends, what can be achieved with hard work and determination.

"Once again thank you and the staff at the library and we look forward to the next event."

Cllr Kathryn McCaffer, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture said: "We are fortunate in the Vale to have such an active community in our libraries.

''They play an instrumental role in encouraging our culture of creativity and learning amongst our residents as this event demonstrates."
