Vale of Glamorgan Council Marks Armed Forces Day
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is marking Armed Forces Day by flying the Union Flag outside the Civic Offices in Barry.
Unfortunately, restrictions in place to control the spread of coronavirus means that a public ceremony will not be possible for this year's occasion on Saturday.
But the Council is encouraging residents to show their support for the Armed Forces at home by celebrating the day virtually.
This can be done by raising awareness of the work done by the Armed Forces, including regulars, reserves, cadets and veterans, and encouraging others to show their support on social media.
People can share content posted on Armed Forces Day Facebook and @ArmedForcesDay Twitter pages as well as #SaluteOurForces material from here.
It is also possible to join' a virtual event through the AFD social media channels.
Cllr Eddie Williams, Vale of Glamorgan Council Armed Forces Champion, said: "Despite these difficult times, it is important we still take the opportunity to honour our Armed Forces.
"Those who make up our Services give everything to protect this country, allowing us the many freedoms we all enjoy.
"Though it is not possible to come together to mark this occasion, I would encourage everyone to find time to show their support for this event in some way. There is a range of ways this can be done virtually by visiting the Armed Forces' social media channels."
