THE Vale of Glamorgan Council recently supported White Ribbon Day, a campaign to end male violence against women.

Managing Director Rob Thomas was among those to pledge their allegiance to the cause on Monday by leaving a personal message in a book in the Civic Office reception.

Badges were also on sale, as well as information about becoming an ambassador, while a white flag will fly outside the main entrance on Holton Road for the 16-day duration of the campaign.

It seeks to highlight the link between violence against women and human rights and runs from November 25 - UN International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women - to December 10 - Human Rights Day.

By pledging, men promise never to commit, condone or remain silent about domestic abuse and all forms of violence towards women.

Mr Thomas said: "This is an important campaign that seeks to recognise the problem of male violence against women.

"As a Council, it is important we show our support for such a worthwhile initiative and I was delighted to pledge my allegiance to the cause along with a large number of colleagues."
