Here's all you need to know about waste and recycling collection in Barry over the Christmas period.

Black bin back restrictions lifted

Recognising the quantity of waste generated over the Christmas period, the Vale of Glamorgan Council is lifting black bag restrictions between Sunday 27 December and Friday 15 January. This means the "maximum two back bags per household per collection" rule will not be enforced during this period.

Recycling

Dos:

-Do recycle food leftovers (including vegetable peelings and turkey carcasses) in your food waste bin.

-Do place Christmas cards and cardboard (without glitter) in your relevant recycling bags (white for paper, orange for card). Don'ts: -Don't place wrapping paper in recycling bags - it is not recyclable.

-Don't place glittery cards or cardboard in recycling bags - these can't either!

-The Council cannot collects fairy lights, sticky tape, bows, tinsel/decorations and polystyrene. Nub News recommends taking these to your nearest recycling centre after Christmas!
