South Wales Fire and Rescue has confirmed that two vehicles were involved in a collision at the waterfront Asda on Saturday,

"At approximately 12:29pm on the 27th of February 2021, we received reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision at the waterfront in Barry," said a spokesperson from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

"Crews attended the scene and two people were self-extricated.

"Firefighters assisted paramedics and a stop message was received at approximately 1:24pm."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to the Asda store in Barry at 12.33pm on Saturday 27 February to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision.

"We attended scene with one rapid response vehicle and one emergency ambulance. One patient was taken to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff for further treatment."

An eyewitness told Nub News that "it looked as though a car had pulled out of the petrol station into a car turning into Asda, but I couldn't see much else."

The incident caused the entrance and exit to the supermarket to be blocked for approximately an hour, with delays along Fford Millenium as a result.
