South Wales Police have warned drivers to find alternative routes after a major traffic collision took place on Barry link road in the early hours of this morning.

They said: ''We are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the Barry link road.

''It is currently closed from McDonald's to the traffic lights at Coldbrook Road East. Coldbrook Road East can still be used.

''It will be closed for several hours so please use an alternative route.

''We will keep you updated. Thank you.''

They have since told residents that the road will remain closed for seveal hours.
