St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School is asking year 8 and 9 pupils to stay at home from Monday, following a year 9 pupil testing positive for Coronavirus.

In a Facebook post on the school's page, headteacher David Blackwell said that he was awaiting contact from Public Health Wales tomorrow morning, and would send out further information afterwards.

As a precaution, the two year groups are asked to stay at home from 16 November until further notice.

"Please be patient for online work to be set tomorrow, staff have not yet been made aware of this situation so they will try their utmost to organise online learning provision during the morning," wrote Mr Blackwell.

"Sorry for any inconvenience this causes. Please keep safe and well and I will be in touch tomorrow."

Sixth form students at Whitmore High School are also self-isolating this week, after a Year 13 student tested positive on Friday 13.

Year 12 and 13 students are required to stay home until Monday 30 November, and will follow online classes during that period.

"We fully understand the concern that this may cause, and can assure you that we have worked in close liaison with

the Local Authority's Health and Safety team, and with Public Health Wales, to ensure that the environment at

Whitmore High School remains as safe as possible for our pupils during these extraordinarily difficult times," a letter from headteacher Innes Robinson read.

"We are all sorry for the upset and inconvenience this will cause."

Self-isolation advice requires the pupils stay at home, and do not go outdoors to exercise, to visit shops, family or

friends, or to other public spaces, and not to invite people to their house. "If your child remains well the other members of the household do not need to isolate and can continue with their

normal activities. If your child is still well at the end of the 14-day period of self-isolation, they can return to Whitmore

High School and their other usual activities."
