New fencing has been erected around the Nell's Point toilet block – but plans to renovate the site are still yet to be approved.

The Nell's Point project would see the Grade-II listed building transformed into four commercial units with outdoor seating space.

Morse Affiliated submitted the plans in 2019. It was hoped the scheme would be completed in 2021, but Covid and the structural stability of the building have caused delays.

The toilet block was built in 1923 but has not been used for used for a "significant number" of years, which has led the building to become dilapidated.

A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesperson said: "The planning application for a restaurant complex at the Nell's Point Old Public Conveniences is still to be determined.

"The Council is currently in discussion with the developer regarding the possibility of adding plans or graphics to the hoardings that have been erected."

In February of this year, founder of the Loungers group Alex Reilley Tweeted that his franchise would open a new restaurant as part of the development.
