The Mount Rooms hotel is expanding into the former Sunrise Residential Home building, to add 14 rooms.

Planning approval for the expansion into the building on Porthkerry Road was approved on 20 April.

The former Sunrise Residential Home, has been vacant for a number of years, and will now become part of the hotel, following an extensive refurbishment.

Internal construction has already begun, a spokesperson for Property Index, the company behind the development, said.

"We are pleased to announce we have gained planning consent to extend our existing hotel development in Barry, Mount Rooms Hotel - by 14 rooms.

"Further increasing our footprint, this area is now better equiped with future plans the company has in sight."

Five parking spaces would be provided at the rear of the site, accessed from the adjacent rear lane, the application states.

It also says that the proposed conversion would not result in any physical alteration to the building.
