Recently we shared a picture of a proposal set up on the beach at Barry Island, as someone prepared to ask an important question…

Now we're happy to tell you she said yes!

The couple are David Lomas and Becky Jermyn, and it turns out that Barry Island has played an important part in their relationship.

They met on Barry Island for their first date two years ago after connecting on a dating app.

Together they chose to visit the beach, as it was roughly half-way between where they both lived at the time.

"We go there on our anniversaries because it's a special place for us," Becky told Nub News.

"We were going to have a curry in Penarth and David suggested we go to the beach.

"As we walked along, David told me to close my eyes and he led me along for a bit.

"He told me to open my eyes and then I saw he was on one knee.

"We had obviously spoken about marriage before, but I was totally surprised!"

David had planned with Becky's friends months prior to his proposal, to make sure they were there to capture the special moment for the couple.

They are looking to marry in 2023, hoping to avoid any cancellations caused by the pandemic.
