How many people in Barry have died due to COVID-19?

The latest figures for the number of people who have died due to COVID-19 in Barry have been published.

They reveal that exactly 100 people in the area fell victim to the disease between March 2020 and January 2021.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 26 of these people died in January, making last month the second deadliest in Barry since the pandemic began - behind April with 31.

These figures cover the Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs) of Barry Island, Barry West, Barry Dyfan and Illtyd. Barry East, Gibbonsdown and Palmerstown.

Seventeen have died in Barry Island, 25 in Barry West, nine in Barry Dyfan and Illtyd, 17 in Barry East 13 in Gibbonsdown, and 19 in Palmerstown.

Twenty have died in nearby Lower Penarth and Sully, 10 in Dinas Powys, and four in Peterson-super-Ely and Wenvoe.

No one in Barry died of the disease in September and October, according to the statistics.
