Essential Road Works to Take Place Over the Next Six Weeks in Barry

Local News by The Editor 20th Jan 2020

From Monday 20 January, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water will be working on the underground water network on Pontypridd Road, Barry.

The essential works will take approximately six weeks to complete.

In order to undertake the work safely, and to minimise disruption to nearby residents and those using the road, a number of road traffic management measures will be in place:

• From 20 January, temporary four-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Ffordd Cwm Cidi and Severn Avenue.

• Between 20 - 25 January, the southbound lane of Pontypridd Road will be closed between 7:00 pm - 6:00 am. Signed diversions will be in place during these hours; outside of these hours, the road will be open to two-way traffic.

  • They will then start constructing the new sewer pipe across the road. This should take four weeks to complete. Work will take place between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm during this time. Two-way traffic will be maintained while we carry out this section of work.

• Once this section of work is complete, a final overnight southbound closure will be in place between 7:00 pm to 6:00 am for one week.

• To minimise disruption during the night-time closures, any noisy elements of the work will be completed before 11:00 pm each night. The Vale Council has thanked residents in advance for their patience whilst these essential works are undertaken.
