The dog beach ban has come to a close and Barry's furry residents were thrilled to see the back of it.

The ban, which lasts from May 1 to September 30, is in place to allow residents to take full advantage of bathing beaches throughout the summer months.

Nub News visited today to take some snaps of the dogs return.

The sun was shining as dog walkers hurried down to Whitmore bay to the delight of their four-legged companions.

Barks could be heard across the length of the beach as delighted dogs sprinted on the sandy shores and plunged into the sea.

Although, there are a number of dog-friendly beaches on offer throughout the summer months, it is clear that Barry Island remains a firm favourite.

The Council has put together a handy list of dog-friendly places to visit across the Vale.

Paws in the Vale encourages businesses to advertise their policy on dogs.

The red button at the bottom of this article will take you to more information on the initiative and all the businesses currently signed up.
